Film racing

My fiance Darren works in film and motion graphics. For the past 3 years we have gotten together with a handful of our friends (who mostly also work in film) to be part of the 24 hour film race.

You are given a theme and an action that need to be incorporated into your 4 minute short film. You have 24 hours once the theme and action are revealed to come up with an idea, write a script, shoot the film and do all the post-production (edit, sound mix, graphics, etc). This always means staying up the whole night and working your butt off (I actually go to sleep during the times where I am no help, like post production).

The film race was this Friday/Saturday for the City of Vancouver. You compete in your city and then if you win, your film competes with all the other major North American cities. Very fun.

Anyways, I am not able to show the film that was created this year, because it has not been previewed yet, but I have posted the film from 2010. The film won in Vancouver (very exciting), and then won 3rd place in North America. Another cool thing: Darren won best acting overall in the whole race!

Enjoy the film:
